Company History
The Specialist Hire Group was formed in 2001 by Peter Cosgrove and John Chappell, two industry veterans with over 50 years experience between them in the hire of capital equipment. Their aim was to build a company in the hire sector that would concentrate on high customer service levels and value added products where applications engineering and safety were key determinants in the customers’ buying decisions.
Over the past five years they have built a Group of companies with a turnover of £30M and over 270 employees. Almost 70% of the shares in the company are held by management, an unusually high proportion for a business of its size, and gives a high level of motivation to the management team in making the business successful.
